📜 The History of Shatrunjay Hill

The word Shatrunjay means “the place of victory over inner enemies.” According to Jain tradition, Lord Rishabhdev (Adinath), the first Tirthankar, attained enlightenment here after deep meditation. Since then, this hill has been considered the most sacred of all Jain pilgrimage sites. Pilgrims climb about 3,800 steps to reach the top, where the main temple of Lord Adinath stands surrounded by smaller temples.

शत्रुंजय शब्द का अर्थ है “आंतरिक शत्रुओं पर विजय पाने का स्थान।” जैन परंपरा के अनुसार, पहले तीर्थंकर भगवान ऋषभदेव (आदिनाथ) ने यहाँ गहन ध्यान के बाद ज्ञान प्राप्त किया था। तभी से यह पर्वत जैन धर्म का सबसे पवित्र तीर्थ माना जाता है। श्रद्धालु लगभग 3,800 सीढ़ियाँ चढ़कर शीर्ष पर स्थित मुख्य आदिनाथ मंदिर तक पहुँचते हैं, जहाँ अनेक छोटे-छोटे मंदिर भी हैं।
